The third quarter of 2023 saw interesting trends for the top five Photo and Video applications on the iOS platform in Africa. Data from Sensor Tower provides a detailed look into the performance of these apps.

Snapchat experienced a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $7K in mid-August. Weekly downloads showed a mixed trend, starting at around 137K in late June and settling around 100K by the end of September. Meanwhile, weekly active users remained consistently high, fluctuating around the 6.5M to 6.9M mark throughout the quarter.

CapCut - Video Editor saw a modest rise in weekly revenue, peaking at roughly $768 in mid-September. Downloads displayed a varied pattern, starting at 155K in late June and dropping to around 85K by the end of September. Active users remained relatively stable, ranging between 724K and 807K during the quarter.

YouTube: Watch, Listen, Stream maintained a strong revenue stream, consistently generating around $38K to $46K weekly. Downloads remained steady, fluctuating between 81K and 95K. The app also showed robust engagement, with active users hovering around 11.5M to 11.7M throughout the quarter.

Instagram showed significant growth in revenue, peaking at approximately $42.5K in mid-September. Weekly downloads were stable, starting at 88K in late June and reaching up to 97K by the end of September. Active users remained strong, fluctuating around the 3.8M mark.

Photo Lab Editor: AI Filter experienced a remarkable increase in both downloads and active users, particularly towards the end of the quarter. Downloads surged from 1.4K in late June to an impressive 155K by late September. Similarly, active users saw a substantial rise from around 8.6K to over 451K in the same period. Revenue also showed an upward trend, peaking at $1K in late September.
